Statement from the 31st Meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska

The 31st Meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska was held today (27 September 2011) and was chaired by Jozef Makúch, the NBS Governor.

The Bank Board discussed the Report on Economic Development for August 2011, which will be published in electronic form on the NBS website as the Monthly Bulletin of NBS.

The Bank Board discussed the Medium-Term Forecast (MTF-2011Q2), which will be published on the NBS website and presented at a press conference.

The Bank Board approved the announcement on the issue of a 100-euro gold collector coin marking the 1,150th anniversary of the death of Pribina – the Prince of Nitra.

The collector coin, weighing 9.5 grams and measuring 26 milimeters in diameter, will be produced from an alloy containing 900 parts gold, 75 parts silver and 25 parts of copper. The coin was designed by academic sculptor Ivan Řehák and will be produced by the Kremnica Mint. It is due to go on sale in December 2011.

The Bank Board discussed and approved the Decree of Národná banka Slovenska on risks and risk management, risk measurement and the calculation of global exposure and counterparty risk.

In line with the new Act on Collective Investment ( No 203/2011 Coll.), which introduces a qualitatively different outlook on the risk management of assets in common funds, this Decree lays down more detailed requirements for the implementation of risk management in management companies. It also regulates how to measure risk and how to calculate the global exposure attached to financial derivatives and counterparty risk resulting from transactions concluded outside a regulated market. The Decree will enter into force on 15 October 2011.

The Bank Board discussed and approved the material Analysis of the Slovak Financial Sector for the First Half of 2011. The Analysis will be presented at a press conference to be held on 3 October 2011, and will subsequently be published on the NBS website.
