The regional offices (and headquarters) of Národná banka Slovenska

perform cash management activities which ensure that the number, denominational breakdown and quality of euro banknotes and coins in circulation in Slovakia are sufficient for the needs of the public and the economy.

Other activities:

  • the exchange of euro banknotes and coins for euro banknotes and coins of a different denomination, and the replacement of damaged euro banknotes and coins;
  • the withdrawal of euro banknotes and coins that cannot be replaced (for example, where it is suspected that they have been counterfeited, altered, or produced without authorisation);
  • the exchange of Slovak koruna banknotes and commemorative coins for euro;
  • services for commercial banks and other professional cash handlers.
