The exchange of Bulgarian lev banknotes
General information
From 2 January to 2 March 2026 National bank of Slovakia will exchange Bulgarian lev banknotes, personally at the Headquarters in Bratislava and regional office in Košice[1]. The fixed conversion rate is BGN 1,95583 to 1 EUR. Converted euro amount will be rounded to two decimal places.
The conversion isfree of charge and is paid cash only. The maximum exchange limit is BGN 2,000 for any given party/transaction on any one day .
The exchange in National bank of Slovakia is possible only for banknotes qualified for exchange and after submission of the originals or certified copies of identity documents.

Central bank of Bulgaria will exchange the Bulgarian lev banknotes and coins free of charge and without time limit.
