14. Will this new obligation not affect banks' costs more significantly, and can they compensate for this in some other way, for example by increasing other fees?
The pricing policy of banks is part of the business strategy of every commercial bank. It is up to the bank how it can cover its costs. In connection with the provision of instant payments, it is important to say that Slovak banks decided to support the use of instant payments as soon as they were launched in 2022 by not introducing higher fees for processing instant payments than they have for regular payments. This means that our banks have been meeting the requirement to maintain the same amount of fees for providing instant payments since 2022.
