Jozef Makúch reappointed for a second term as NBS Governor by the President of the Slovak Republic

At a ceremony in Bratislava today (12 January 2015) Slovak President Andrej Kiska formally appointed doc. Ing. Jozef Makúch, PhD. to a second term as Governor of Národná banka Slovenska, with the proceedings attended by Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Peter Kažimír.

Mr Makúch has been a member of the NBS Bank Board since 1 January 2006 and became NBS Governor on 12 January 2010. He was nominated by the Government for a second term, and his nomination was approved by the Parliament on 27 November 2014. His second term of office is for six years.

Since its establishment in 1993 Národná banka Slovenska has had four governors, with Mr Makúch preceded by Ivan Šramko (2005-2010), Marián Jusko (1999-2004), and Vladimír Masár (1993-1999).
