Slovak President appoints Peter Kažimír as NBS Governor

The President of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska, today (13 March 2019) appointed Peter Kažimír as Governor of Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) with effect from 1 June 2019.

Mr Kažimír currently serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic. He was nominated to head the central bank by the Slovak Government, and his nomination was approved by the Slovak Parliament on 6 December 2018. The term of office of the NBS Governor is set at six years.

Mr Kažimír will be the fifth NBS Governor since the central bank was established in 1993, following Jozef Makúch (2010-2019), Ivan Šramko (2005-2010), Marián Jusko (1999-2004) and Vladimír Masár (1993-1999).
