Statement from the NBS Bank Board’s 15th meeting of 2024
On 22 August 2024 the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) held its 15th meeting of the year, chaired by NBS Governor Peter Kažimír.
The Bank Board approved a document entitled: ‘Proposal for increasing the member’s quota of the Slovak Republic in the International Monetary Fund and for concluding the relevant amendments to agreements between the National Bank of Slovakia and the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic resulting from the increase in the member’s quota’.
The Bank Board approved a document entitled: ‘Proposal for concluding Amendment No 1 to the Loan Agreement between the Slovak Republic and the International Monetary Fund (2020) and Amendment No 1 to the Agreement to refund the difference between interest income and expenses incurred by the National Bank of Slovakia in relation to the Loan Agreement between the Slovak Republic and the International Monetary Fund (2020)’.
The Bank Board approved the notification of the issuance of a €2 commemorative coin marking the 100th anniversary of the Košice Peace Marathon.
The coin will have the same technical parameters as normal €2 coins and will be legal tender in Slovakia and the rest of the euro area. Its national side was designed by Roman Lugár. Produced by the Kremnica Mint with a mintage of one million, the coin is due to be issued in September 2024.
The Bank Board approved the notification of the issuance of a €5 base metal collector coin under the title ‘Fauna and flora in Slovakia – the western capercaillie’.
The coin is made from MS63 brass (63% copper and 37% zinc), weighs 19.1 g, and has a diameter of 34 mm. Designed by Tomáš Lamač and produced by the Kremnica Mint, the coin is due to go on sale in October 2024.
The Bank Board approved the notification of the issuance of a €10 silver collector coin commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Janko Jesenský.
The coin is made from an alloy of silver (90%) and copper (10%), weighs 18 g, and has a diameter of 34 mm. Designed by Martin Sabol (obverse) and Ivan Řehák (reverse) and produced by the Kremnica Mint, the coin is due to go on sale in November 2024.
