Statement from the NBS Bank Board’s 17th meeting of 2026
On 28 September 2026 the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) held its 17th meeting of the year, chaired by NBS Governor Peter Kažimír.
The Bank Board took note of the autumn 2026 edition of the Bank’s quarterly Economic and Monetary Developments, which was subsequently presented at a press conference and published on the NBS website.
The Bank Board approved the September 2026 edition of the Bank’s quarterly Macroprudential Commentary, to be published on the NBS website. At the same time, it decided to keep the countercyclical capital buffer (CCyB) rate unchanged.
The Bank Board approved an NBS Decree amending NBS Decree No 10/2016 of 13 December 2016 laying down detailed provisions on the assessment of a consumer’s ability to repay a housing loan, as amended. Further details will be published in a press release and in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section of the NBS website.
The Bank Board, acting in accordance with Section 6(2)(e) of Act No 566/1992 on Národná banka Slovenska, as amended, authorised banks and other cash handlers to recirculate category 2 euro banknotes, by means of any type of successfully tested banknote handling machine, in accordance with Article 5 of, and Annex IIa to, Decision of the European Central Bank of 16 September 2010 on the authenticity and fitness checking and recirculation of euro banknotes (ECB/2010/14) (2010/597/EU) (OJ L 267, 9.10.2010), as amended. This authorisation will be published by a notice in the notification section of the Journal of Národná banka Slovenska.
