Statement from the NBS Bank Board’s 9th meeting of 2023
On 9 May the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska held its 9th meeting of 2023, chaired by NBS Governor Peter Kažimír.
Deputy Governor Ľudovít Ódor informed the Bank Board of his decision to accept the offer of Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová to head an interim technocratic government until the early general election scheduled for September.
He will resign from his current post on 14 May, and the Bank Board will remain quorate following his departure.
Governor Kažimír said: ‘I have known Ľudo Ódor for more than twenty years and I am very glad that our professional paths have crossed several times. It was an honour for me to nominate him for the position of Deputy Governor and as a founding member of the Council for Budget Responsibility.
I am delighted, both personally and professionally, that he will become prime minister in the first government of experts. Ľudo is someone who combines both expertise and effectiveness. He has a knack for scoring, and I am convinced that he and his team will help calm the complicated social situation and lead the country through to the early general election.’
The Bank Board wishes Mr Ódor every success in his new post.
