Statement from the 11th meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska

The 11th meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska was held today (23 April 2013) and was chaired by Jozef Makúch, the NBS Governor.

In the Slovak Republic, Friday 5 July 2013 is the public holiday of Saints Cyril and Methodius, and it will also be the date of issue of a €2 commemorative coin marking the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of the mission of Constantine and Methodius to Great Moravia (Constantine took the name Cyril upon becoming a monk shortly before his death).

On this date the NBS headquarters and all NBS branches will be open to the general public, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., for the sole purpose of allowing people to purchase the new commemorative coins.

To ensure that as many people as possible can obtain the commemorative coins during this period, each customer will be limited to a maximum of 50 commemorative coins (two rolls).

The issuance of this commemorative coin is one of ways in which Národná banka Slovenska is contributing to the celebration of this historic anniversary.
