Statement from the 4th meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska

The 4th meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska was held today (18 February 2014) and was chaired by Jozef Makúch, the NBS Governor.

The Bank Board approved the announcement of the issuance of a €2 commemorative coin marking the 10th anniversary of the accession of the Slovak Republic to the European Union.

Due to be issued in April 2014, the coin will have the same technical parameters as normal €2 coins and will be legal tender in Slovakia and the rest of the euro area. It was designed by Mária Poldaufová and is being produced by Kremnica Mint in Slovakia. The total issuing volume is one million coins.

The Bank Board approved a Decree of Národná banka Slovenska that repeals Decree No 1/2000 of Národná banka Slovenska stipulating how foreign exchange places are to proceed in respect of cross-border payments and payments vis-à-vis non-residents.

The repealing Decree follows from the fact that the Decree of Národná banka Slovenska governing payment items was repealed as of 1 January 2014.

The Decree will enter into force on 1 April 2014.
