Statement from the NBS Bank Board’s 15th meeting of 2019

The Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska today (23 July) held its 15th meeting of 2019, chaired by NBS Governor Peter Kažimír.

The Bank Board took note of NBS’s July 2019 Monthly Bulletin, which is published on the NBS website.
The Bank Board approved NBS’s July 2019 Quarterly Commentary on Macroprudential Policy.
The Bank Board decided to increase the countercyclical capital buffer (CCyB) rate to 2.00% with effect from 1 August 2020. The decision is aimed at increasing the banking sector’s resilience in response to the ongoing build-up of cyclical risks.
Under decisions adopted by the NBS Bank Board, the current settings of the CCyB rate for domestic exposures are as follows:

1 August 2018 – 31 July 2019 1.25%
1 August 2019 – 31 July 2020 1.50%
From 1 August 2020 2.00%

The Bank Board approved the notification of the issuance of a €10 silver collector euro coin commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Michal Bosák.
The coin is made of an alloy comprising 90% silver and 10% copper, weighs 18 g, and has a diameter of 34 mm. Designed by Roman Lugár and produced by the Kremnica Mint, the silver collector coin is due to go on sale in October 2019.
