Statement from the NBS Bank Board's 20th meeting of 2016

The Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska today (25 October) held its 20th meeting of 2016, chaired by Jozef Makúch, the NBS Governor.

The Bank Board took note of NBS’s October 2016 Monthly Bulletin, which will be published on the NBS website.

The Bank Board approved the “Quarterly commentary on macroprudential policy – October 2016”.

The Bank Board also approved a Decision of 25 October 2016 reiterating that the countercyclical capital buffer rate will be increased to 0.5% with effect from 1 August 2017.

The Bank Board approved the announcement of the issuance of a €2 commemorative coin marking the 550th anniversary of the opening of Universitas Istropolitana.

Due to be issued in January 2017, the commemorative coin will have the same technical parameters as normal €2 coins and will be legal tender in Slovakia and the rest of the euro area. Its national side was designed by Mária Poldaufová. The coin will be produced by the Kremnica Mint in Slovakia, with a total issuing volume of one million coins.
