A Commemorative Two Euro Coin
In January this year, Národná banka Slovenska, as well as other euro area countries, issues into circulation a commemorative two euro coin on the occasion of 10th anniversary of the Economic and Monetary Union establishment. Narodna banka Slovenska (NBS) will issue into circulation 2.5 million pieces of this commemorative coin. In case citizens wish to buy it, they may exchange valid euro banknotes and coins for commemorative two euro coins in the NBS in a limited amount. The exchange will be possible after the end of dual circulation.
Last year, citizens and European inhabitants chose the design of a new euro coin representing euro as the last step in the long history of the European economic integration so far.
Motif of the commemorative euro coin was selected based on the Internet Poll out of five designs involved in the contest. The Internet Poll was running from 31 January to 22 February 2008 and it was joined by more than 141 thousand voters. The winning design got 41.48% votes.
