NBS warning about the website ekrona.com

Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) warns the public about the website ekrona.com, which purports to offer people an opportunity to invest in ‘eKrona’, describing it as an official digital currency of the European Union (EU).

In fact, the EU has not approved any official digital currency or cryptocurrency for EU Member States, so the information stated on the ekrona.com website is fraudulent and misleading.

The eKrona company operating the website is not subject to supervision by NBS, has not been issued with an authorisation to perform any activity which is subject to supervision by NBS, and is not recorded in any register maintained by NBS.

We continue to warn consumers interested in investing in the financial market to consider carefully before concluding a contract with a financial services provider and to check the provider against the list of authorised providers listed on the NBS website. At the same time, we recommend consumers to give thorough consideration to all risks and aspects of any potential investment, including their own financial resources, investment preferences, and ability to bear potential losses.
