Coins Exchange at Národná banka Slovenska

Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) advises the citizens to do in the interest of more fluent cash exchange at the NBS* the following :

  • to sort the banknotes and coins by their nominal values
  • when exchanging SKK in equivalent over EUR 15,000 such transaction is requested to be notified in writing at least 1 business day in advance

At the same time Národná banka Slovenska advises that it will change maximally 1000 pieces of the Slovak or euro coins presented for exchange on the spot.

In case that more coins for exchange are presented, Národná banka Slovenska will accept them and will pay their counter value to the citizen only after a commissional re-counting no later than 30 calendar days from their presentation. In this case Národná banka Slovenska will accept the coins together with the statement signed by the citizen. In this way the citizen validates the amount ascertained during the counting of the coins without his presence.
