Národná banka Slovenska authorized the Institute of Banking Education of the NBS, n.o. to provide professional examination of the financial intermediaries and financial advisors

On 30 August 2010, the Institute of Banking Education of NBS, NPO (hereinafter referred to as the IBV NBS, n.o.) accepted the authorization of Národná banka Slovenska to provide professional examination of financial intermediaries and financial advisors under the Act No 186/2009 Coll. on Financial Intermediation and Financial Counselling and on amendments and supplements to certain laws as amended by Act No 129/2010 Coll. Act No 186/2009 Coll. in Article 22(3) determined new requirements for the professional qualification of financial intermediaries and financial advisors who in order to enhance business professionalism and protect consumers´ interests in the financial market, must be involved in continuous specialist training and education and take special exams.

The IBV NBS, n.o. prepared a specialized project to provide special exams approved by Národná banka Slovenska. The Institute provides the examination for the medium and higher level of qualification with a personal attendance of participants using an electronic system. Financial intermediaries and advisors must participate in the education and take special exams every four years.

The IBV NBS, n.o. was established by Národná banka Slovenska as a non-profit organization on 28 October 2008. The current Institute has been transformed from the original Institute of Banking Education which was a part of the organization system of Národná banka Slovenska and has provided education for the Slovak banking sector since 1991 up to the present.

The Institute was authorized also in the past years to provide examination for financial intermediaries and actuaries as the only institution in the Slovak Republic.
