NBS warning regarding unauthorized activities of WESTLINE

Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) warns potential investors about unauthorised activities of the company WESTLINE, currently with an unspecified registered office address and business name.

Westline runs the website http://westline-bank.webnode.sk/ offering Slovak investors, amongst others, the possibility to invest in various investment instruments. It is thus engaged in activities in Slovakia which require authorisation from NBS and no such authorisation has been granted to WESTLINE.

Národná banka Slovenska, as the competent authority for issuing authorisations under laws regulating the Slovak financial market, warns the public that it has not issued WESTLINE any authorisation that would authorise the company to conduct activities in Slovakia regulated by Act No 566/2001 Coll. on securities and investment services (and amending certain laws), as amended (‘the Securities Act’). Nor does NBS have any record of the company as a provider of investment services under the European Union’s ‘single passport’ regime.

In view of these facts, NBS points out that any activities of WESTLINE on the Slovak financial market which are subject to authorisation by NBS are conducted by this company in violation of law. The business activity of WESTLINE is not subject to supervision by NBS, and funds invested with the company are not covered by the Investment Guarantee Fund under the Securities Act.
