Slovak banks participated in BIS Triennial Survey of Foreign Exchange and OTC Derivatives Market

The 12th Triennial Central Bank Survey of foreign exchange and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives markets took place in 1H 2019. This Global survey is coordinated by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and involved national central banks and other authorities in 53 jurisdictions. The Survey is composed of two parts.

The first part conducted in April 2019 measures the daily volume of foreign exchange and OTC interest-rate derivatives transactions that banks carry out on their own behalf or through their customers’ accounts throughout the month. The second part of the Survey was carried out in June 2019 measure the outstanding notional amounts and gross market values of foreign exchange, interest rate, equity, commodity, credit and other OTC derivatives contracts.

Authorities collected data from close to 1,300 banks and other dealers in their jurisdictions and reported national aggregates to the BIS, which then calculated global aggregates.

In Slovakia four largest banks contributed to the global survey based on the turnover, namely Všeobecná úverová banka, Slovenská sporiteľňa, Československá obchodná banka
and Tatra banka.
