Statement from the NBS Bank Board’s 20th meeting of 2023
On 23 October 2023 the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) held its 20th meeting of the year, chaired by NBS Governor Peter Kažimír.
The Bank Board approved a Decree of Národná banka Slovenska on how to demonstrate compliance with conditions for the granting of an authorisation to establish and operate a pension fund management company.
The Decree systemically and substantively succeeds Decree No 162/2012 of Národná banka Slovenska of 29 May 2012 on how to demonstrate compliance with conditions for the granting of an authorisation to establish and operate a pension fund management company. Given the extent to which the Old-Age Pension Scheme Act has been amended, the Decree was required in order to repeal Decree No 162/2012 and to recast some of its provisions in the light of the legislative changes and new practical necessities.
The Decree takes effect on 1 January 2024.
The Bank Board approved a Decree of Národná banka Slovenska on the elements of applications for prior approval of Národná banka Slovenska made under the Old-Age Pension Scheme Act.
The Decree gives further details about the elements of applications for prior approval made under Section 52(1) of the Old-Age Pension Scheme Act (No 43/2004), as amended, whereby pension fund management companies are to demonstrate, in the course of their activities, compliance with conditions for the granting of such approval.
The Decree systemically and substantively succeeds Decree No 6/2013 of Národná banka Slovenska of 18 December 2012 on the elements of applications for prior approval of Národná banka Slovenska made under the Old-Age Pension Scheme Act; it recasts some of that decree’s provisions in the light of legislative changes and new practical necessities.
The Decree lays down and further specifies the conditions and documents or other materials that must be met and submitted to the supervisory authority as part of the prior approval procedure.
The Decree takes effect on 1 January 2024.
The Bank Board approved a Decree of Národná banka Slovenska amending Decree No 13/2018 of Národná banka Slovenska of 6 November 2018 on the covered bond register.
The Decree lays down the structure, scope and parts of the covered bond register for the different covered bond programmes that a bank maintains, as well as the methods, procedures, methodology and technical rules for maintaining data on various assets in the covered bond register.
The Decree takes effect on 31 October 2023.
