Statement from the 45th Meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska

The 45th Meeting of the Bank Board of Národná banka Slovenska was held today (7 December 2010) and was chaired by Jozef Makúch, the NBS Governor.

The Bank Board of NBS discussed and approved the Medium-Term Forecast (P4Q-2010) which was published on the NBS website and presented at a press conference.

The Bank Board of NBS discussed and approved the Annual Budget of Národná banka Slovenska for 2011. The Bank’s operating loss for 2011 has been budgeted in the amount of EUR 63 million, while investments have been planned in the amount of EUR 11 million and currency issue in the amount of EUR 8 million.

The Bank Board of NBS approved the announcement on the issue of a silver 10-euro collector coin commemorating the 900th anniversary of the Zobor deeds.

This euro collector coin, designed by Mgr. art. Peter Valach, will be minted by the Kremnica Mint from an alloy containing 900 parts of silver and 100 parts of copper. The coin will weigh 18g and have a diameter of 34 mm. It is due to go on sale in March 2011.

The Bank Board of NBS approved the Macroprudential Analysis of the Slovak Banking Sector – September 2010. The analysis will be published on the NBS website.

The Bank Board of NBS approved the Plan of Main Tasks of NBS for the First Half of 2011.

The Bank Board of NBS discussed and approved a draft law amending Act No. 566/2001 Coll. on securities and investment services and on amendments to certain laws (the Securities Act), as amended (hereinafter ‘the draft law’).

The purpose of the draft law is to transpose into Slovak law the following two pieces of EU legislation: Directive 2009/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 98/26/EC on settlement finality in payment and securities settlement systems and Directive 2002/47/EC on financial collateral arrangements as regards linked systems and credit claims. The draft law is proposed to enter into force on 30 June 2011.
