Climate Strategy of the National Bank of Slovakia
Addressing climate-related risks is not an extension of our mandate, but a necessary condition for fulfilling it in a changing world.
Climate Strategy of the National Bank of Slovakia
766.92 kBClimate change already affects the economy
Physical (floods, droughts) and transition risks (climate policies, stranded assets) have impact on price levels, credit availability and the stability of financial markets.
.
We address climate-related risks in full alignment with our mandate
We approach to climate change-induced challenges analytically and systematically monitor their impact on developments in financial markets and the economy as a whole. We equally aim to to improve public understanding of how climate change affects the economy, banks, insurers, markets, and households.
Our efforts are focused and targeted
Our climate engagements revolve around four priority areas wherein we can, thanks to our expertise, bring the highest value added:
- macroeconomic forecasts and monetary policy decision-making
- assessment of climate risks in the financial sector
- sustainable management of investment reserves
- facilitating supervisory requirements implementation for banks and insurers.
