Design for the €10 silver collector coin featuring the first Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union
There was no competition for the design of the collector coin.
In September 2015, the NBS Bank Board approved the inclusion in the Issue Plan of Slovak Commemorative and Collector Coins for 2016 of a €10 silver collector coin featuring the first Slovak presidency of the Council of the European Union. With regard to the significant time necessary for organizing and evaluating a public competition it was decided to entrust the coin’s design directly to the winner of the public competition for the 2€ commemorative coin, Vladimír Pavlica, who also won the second prize in the competition. The author was asked to adapt the motif of the commemorative coin’s national side to become the obverse side of the collector coin, and to create a reverse side corresponding to the obverse in terms of composition and concepts.
In October 2015 the NBS Bank Board approved one of the design variants for the coin that the author submitted in response to the call.
