The systemic risk buffer increases the resilience of systemically important banks to systemic risks in particular areas.

In Slovakia the SyRB was applied mainly as a supplement to the O-SII buffer to certain banks only (not all at the same rate):

Legislation

The statutory framework for capital buffers comprises Sections 33a to 33j of the Banking Act. NBS sets SyRB rates, at least once year, through secondary legislation in the form of decisions.
