Description
The design on the front side of the banknote shows the Madona from the Altar of Birth in St. Jacob´s Church at Levoča. This Gothic ornamental sculpture was the work of the outstanding medieval artist – sculptor and wood-carver Master Pavol of Levoča.
The dessign of the back displays the town Levoča where master Pavol was active. The main motifs are the two dominants of the town – the church of the St. Jacob and the city hall. This motiv is overprinted by an illustration of a gothic stone head from the sacristy of the old church of the minorite order at Levoča.
On the occasion of Bimillennium in December 1999, the National Bank of Slovakia issued banknotes with a metallized silver foil with a symbol and text commemorating the year 2000 applied at the bottom of the coupon. The 100-koruna Bimillennial banknotes were issued in limited quantities of 133,000.
