Covered Bonds Labelled "European Covered Bond"

Pursuant to Section 81(6) of the Banking Act (483/2001), Národná banka Slovenska, as the supervisory authority for the issuance and administration of covered bonds, maintains and publishes on its website a list of covered bonds that are entitled to use the label European Covered Bond.

The label ‘European Covered Bond’ was introduced into the European covered bond market by the EU’s Covered Bond Directive (2019/2162) in order to help EU and third country investors assess covered bonds issued under national names and designations and identify those, that meet the requirements of the Covered Bond Directive and Article 129 of the EU’s Capital Requirements Regulation (575/2013).

This label confirms the quality of the respective covered bonds and guarantees strong protection for investors, thus increasing the bonds’ attractiveness as an investment instrument and a high-quality asset both within and outside the EU.
